Family Demands 1.65 Million Baht After Teen Is Found in Suitcase

A Thai father has lost his only daughter. Now, her family is seeking 1.65 million baht in compensation as the Australian man accused in her dєatᩚh continues to deny murder.
Tunchanok Donhomla, known as Cake, was just 17 when her body was found inside a discarded suitcase beside railway tracks in Pattaya in June.
Simon Peter Carman, 45, has agreed to plead guilty to concealing her body but will contest the murder charge and two other charges.
At Pattaya Provincial Court on October 12, Carman reportedly refused to admit murder, saying he would be lying to himself and others. He maintains that he had no intention of killing her.
CCTV footage reportedly showed Cake entering a condominium lift with Carman at around 3:30am on June 25. Two days later, her body was discovered. A police autopsy found that she died from suffocation.

Her family is seeking compensation for funeral expenses and the financial support her father might have received from her in the future. Thai authorities are helping the family obtain legal representation, and the claim is expected to be considered alongside the criminal case.
Cake’s cousin, Khanitta Nongkhampoon, expressed the family’s pain in words that say more than any compensation figure ever could:
“Nobody wants money from this. They want the person’s life back.”
Her father said losing his only child had left his home feeling empty. He hopes for the dєatᩚh penalty but will leave the decision to the legal process.
No amount of money can bring Cake home. For her family, the compensation claim is part of seeking justice—but what they have lost can never truly be replaced.
