Nolan Wells Case: Deleted Phone Evidence Raises New Questions as Friends Deny Involvement

Nolan Wells Case: Deleted Phone Evidence Raises New Questions as Friends Deny Involvement

New forensic findings show deleted Snapchat messages on Nolan Wells’ phone, while his friends deny involvement and key questions remain unanswered.

The Nolan Wells investigation has taken another turn after newly released forensic records revealed deleted Snapchat messages linked to the 18-year-old’s phone.

The discovery has renewed questions about what happened during the hours after Wells disappeared from Horn Island on July 4.

But the latest evidence does not show that three of Wells’ friends were arrested or charged. A Jackson County grand jury previously declined to bring criminal charges, and attorneys for the friends have denied any involvement in deleting messages.

What Happened to Nolan Wells’ Phone?

Wells traveled to Horn Island, Mississippi, with friends for a Fourth of July outing. He did not return with the group, and his body was found near the island two days later.

His family later hired digital forensic examiner Andrew Garrett to analyze Wells’ cellphone.

According to the forensic examination, Wells last unlocked his phone at approximately 2:17 p.m. on July 4. The device was then locked and remained locked until his family recovered it early the next morning.

The examination found that some Snapchat messages had been deleted or unsent during the relevant period.

That finding immediately raised questions about whether someone had accessed Wells’ phone after he disappeared.

However, the forensic evidence does not establish that someone physically unlocked the device and deleted the messages.

Deleted Snapchat Messages Become a Major Focus

More than 290 pages of Snapchat records connected to Wells’ account have now been released.

The records cover group conversations and private messages from around the time of his disappearance and afterward.

Some messages were described by Garrett as having been “unsent or deleted by their senders.”

But the forensic examination did not identify which individuals deleted particular messages, how many messages were removed by each sender or why they were deleted.

That distinction is important.

A deleted Snapchat message does not automatically prove that someone tampered with Wells’ phone or attempted to conceal evidence.

It also does not establish that a deleted message was connected to his dєatᩚh.

Three Friends Deny Deleting Anything

Three of the young men who have faced intense public scrutiny in connection with the case are Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour.

Their attorney, Edward Paltzik, has strongly denied that his clients deleted any messages.

“Warren, Jax and Morgan did not erase anything and never had access to his phone,” Paltzik told TMZ. “If anything was erased, they didn’t do it.”

Attorney Tyler Cox also disputed the suggestion that the three men had access to Wells’ phone.

According to Cox, phones left on the boat were collected and placed in a truck before Wells’ phone was eventually returned to his family.

There is currently no public evidence showing that Hudson, Pitalo or Seymour deleted Wells’ Snapchat messages.

Were the Friends Arrested?

Despite social-media claims suggesting otherwise, there is no reliable reporting that the three men were arrested.

In fact, the Jackson County grand jury recently declined to bring criminal charges in connection with Wells’ dєatᩚh.

The grand jury specifically said it found no credible evidence that people who traveled to or from Horn Island with Wells engaged in criminal conduct related to his dєatᩚh.

The finding does not prevent authorities from examining genuinely new evidence in the future, but it means the current public record does not support claims that Wells’ friends have been arrested over his dєatᩚh.

What Do the New Snapchat Records Show?

The newly released records provide additional details about conversations surrounding Wells’ disappearance.

One message reportedly described Wells being seen with another person after the group was preparing to leave the island.

Other conversations show friends trying to understand what had happened and discussing the search for Wells.

Some messages were also interpreted online as raising questions about race and people present on Horn Island.

But the records do not, by themselves, establish that any particular person caused Wells’ dєatᩚh.

The Clarion Ledger reported that many names and identifying details were redacted, while much of the material consisted of images or videos that could not be fully reviewed from the released PDF.

The Grand Jury Reached a Different Conclusion

The digital evidence emerged shortly after the Jackson County grand jury completed its review.

The panel examined witness testimony, cellphone information and other investigative material before declining to bring charges.

The grand jury said there was no credible evidence supporting allegations of criminal conduct by people who traveled with Wells.

District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath has continued to defend the investigation and has challenged Wells’ family’s legal team to provide authorities with any genuinely new evidence of murder.

Cause of dєatᩚh Remains a Central Question

The phone controversy is only one part of the unresolved case.

Wells’ official and independent autopsies both listed his cause and manner of dєatᩚh as undetermined.

The reports documented bruising, but neither examination established a fatal injury.

The grand jury said the circumstances were consistent with drowning, but that conclusion did not change the medical classification of the cause and manner of dєatᩚh.

Wells’ family has questioned the drowning interpretation and continues to call for additional investigation.

Authorities, meanwhile, have maintained that the grand jury found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

What Is Confirmed

Several important points are now established:

Nolan Wells was 18 when he disappeared during a July 4 trip to Horn Island.

His body was found two days later.

His phone was last unlocked at approximately 2:17 p.m. on July 4.

The phone remained locked until it was recovered by his family.

Forensic analysis found deleted or unsent Snapchat messages.

The examination did not establish who deleted individual messages or why.

Attorneys for Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour deny that their clients deleted anything.

The three men have not been reported as arrested or charged.

A Jackson County grand jury declined to bring criminal charges.

The official cause and manner of Wells’ dєatᩚh remain undetermined.

What Remains Unclear

The deleted messages leave several questions unanswered.

Who removed the individual Snapchat messages?

What did the deleted messages contain?

Why were they removed?

And did any of the deleted conversations contain information relevant to Wells’ final hours?

The available forensic evidence does not currently answer those questions.

Most importantly, the evidence released so far does not establish that Wells’ friends deleted the messages or that the deletions were connected to his dєatᩚh.

Latest Update

The Nolan Wells case remains under intense public scrutiny as the family continues to seek answers.

The release of hundreds of pages of Snapchat records has provided additional context, but it has not produced a publicly established explanation for Wells’ dєatᩚh.

For now, the central mystery remains unresolved: what happened to Nolan Wells after he was last known to be alive on Horn Island?

The deleted messages may become relevant to that question, but their existence alone does not establish who deleted them or what they mean.
